How to refer via Right to Choose · what to expect from our reports

The Process:

You cannot self-refer.

You must discuss your symptoms with your GP, ask for a referral, and explicitly request to use your Right to Choose to be sent to a specific, qualified NHS or independent provider.

Providers:

The chosen provider must have an NHS contract in place to deliver the assessment and care you need and have a named consultant or clinical lead.

Skylight Psychiatry meets all the above criteria to be a ‘qualified provider’.

We have a contract with Norfolk & Suffolk ICB to deliver Adult ADHD and Autism Diagnostic Assessments (indicating that our assessments are of a quality and price that meet the requirements of delivering to the NHS).

Our Clinical Director, Dr Caryl Marshall is our named consultant psychiatrist and clinical lead.

When can you not use NHS Right to Choose?

  • You already receive care and treatment for the condition
  • The organisation or clinical team you have chosen does not provide the right care for your condition
  • You are a prisoner or on temporary release from prison
  • You are detained in prescribed accommodation such as a court, secure training centre, immigration removal centre or young offender’s institute
  • You are detained in a secure hospital setting

Medication/ Treatment:

In some cases, Right to Choose only covers the diagnosis; titration or ongoing medication may require a separate local NHS referral depending on your ICB’s Shared Care Agreement.
